Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident on 32nd avenue just south of 61 street lane 3 miles north of Shellsburg around 8:15 a.m. Monday.
Diane Lynn Blakley age 55 from Urbana was south bound on 32 avenue in a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer when she dropped off the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons. When Blakley pulled back onto the roadway she apparently over-corrected going across the roadway striking a 2002 Ford Ranger driven by William Joseph Driscoll age 63 of Newhall.
The impact sent the Driscoll vehicle into the east ditch where it flipped over coming to rest on its wheels. A passenger in the Driscoll vehicle, Richard Leroy Frame age 62 of Norway, along with Driscoll had to be extricated with the aid of the Jaws of Life and other emergency extrication equipment.
William Driscoll was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids by Center Point Ambulance. Diane Blakley was also transported to Mercy Hospital by Urbana Ambulance. Richard Frame was flown by Life Guard Helicopter to St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. All injuries were non-life threatening.
Assisting at the scene was Urbana – Polk Township Ambulance, Center Point Ambulance, Shellsburg Fire and First Responders, Life Guard Helicopter and Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident remains under investigation by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
