During the Vinton City Council meeting Thursday evening, Vinton Unlimited Director Nathan Hesson told the council that it is important for local leaders and citizens to attend the meeting to show the state officials that the city has the support of its leaders and residents.

A few local leaders will me making presentations during the meeting at the Palace. The meeting takes place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Along with the benefits listed previously, having a "Great Places" designation will give Vinton an edge when it applies for other community grants.
