The Vinton City Council discussed homecoming with V-S teacher and class advisor Le Cox Thursday, to plan for the annual Homecoming Parade.
Cox advised the council of two significant changes to this year's event.
First, it will take place Thursday evening. Second, it will begin downtown and end at the high school. Traditionally, the parade began at the school and ended downtown.
The purpose for the change, said Cox, is to tie together the parade and the pep rally/powder puff game, which begins at 7 p.m. at the high school football field. Homecoming Royalty members are also crowned Thursday evening.
Students and other Homecoming Parade participants will line of on B Avenue at 5:30. The parade begins at 6 p.m. The route leads from B Avenue to Fourth Street to Second Avenue to the school.
