News : Boomtown/Boomfest weekend is here!

The long-awaited Boomtown/Boom-fest weekend has arrived. While IPA members will work around the rain to begin setting up their fireworks today, most of the work in and near the race track will take place throughout Saturday, when the forecast is much more sunny.

There are 56 vendors signed up for space in downtown Vinton.

"I’m really looking forward to a wonderful day," says VU Director Melissa Schwan, of her first Boom-fest event. "We are excited to welcome some new vendors to Boom-Fest as well as some that have joined us in years past. Don’t forget we have some food vendors, too. Scratch Cupcakery will be around also. Inflatables will be free for the kids from 11-3."

The Art Festival also takes place this weekend at Celebration Park, along with the bidding for sponsors of the corn statues.
