While Friday night is about football and what happens between the sidelines, there is also lots of activity among the fans and other participants at a high school football game. Vinton-Shellsburg fans are no exception. Here are some photos from the season home opener Friday, Aug. 27.

The sophomores won, 36-0, but the varsity team lost, 21-7.

Varsity football cheerleaders include, from left in the photo here: Liz McGee, Katlyn Stahlhut, Destiny Loney, Melanee Lovell, Kayla Taylor, Erin Spangler, Ashley Eden. All but Erin, a junior, are freshmen.
