News : Rural Keystone man dies in roll-over accident on gravel road

47-year-old Ricky Lee Claeys of Keystone was fatality injured in one car accident this morning ½ mile east of Keystone on 70th Street Drive, a Benton County gravel road.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a pickup on its side in the ditch around 6 a.m. this morning.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation indicated that the vehicle drifted across the roadway where the unrestrained driver overcorrected finally going into the north ditch where it flipped up on its side.

Officers believe that the accident happened around 1:45 a.m., but was not discovered until 6 a.m.

Agencies responding to the scene were Keystone Fire, Keystone First Responders, Belle Plaine Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation is continuing by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
