The Vinton Chapter of T.T.T. hosted a book fair at the Cedar Rapids Barnes & Noble this past Saturday. It was a packed fun-filled day of interactive, musical and literary experiences.
Children enjoyed the author Andy Allen who shared his amazing dog, Stormin’ Norman. Costumed children crafted masks, played games and enjoyed Halloween story time with books read by Margie Ortgiesen. Brenda Hackbarth presented an engaging nature presentation while members hosted a Beatrix Potter tea party and scavenger hunt. The Mary Ingalls Society kindly loaned braille books, replica dolls and braille cards creating an extra interesting feature to the T.T.T presentation. The highlight of the day was the musical concert by Vinton area children directed by Lois Martin.  Rebeka Lindauer, Alex Funk, Casey Funk, Brylee Bruce, Abbye Hendryx, Allissa Hendryx, Davia Herger and Sam Kintzel are all very talented and shared  their beautiful voices. We are very appreciative of their efforts.
National TTT Society is a National non-profit, philanthropic organization of women who donate their time, talent and treasures to send girls to camp – and more! This project provides an educational experience for girls who might not otherwise have the opportunity. T.T.T. members have found that a week at summer camp can have a profound impact on a growing child. Camp programs intensify interpersonal relationships and the camp atmosphere fosters love, concern and respect for one another. This environment gives each girl an opportunity to appreciate own self-worth, develop initiative, learn self-expression and live in harmony with others.
There is still opportunity to support the Vinton Chapter of T.T.T. by shopping online at Barnes & Noble through Thursday, October 30th. If you are shopping for Christmas, book club or just enjoy a good book, go to barnesandnoble.com and enter book fair ID# 11422029 at checkout. T.T.T. will receive a percent of the purchase to help fund their projects.
The Vinton T.T.T. members would like to thank Diane Welsh, Cedar Rapids Barnes and Noble manager, and her staff for being extremely accommodating to our efforts; her guidance, event organization and insights have made it a successful and fun fundraiser. Thank you also to our community for your tremendous support.
