On September 20th, kids gathered at the Benton county fairgrounds to learn about farm safety and how to handle emergencies at the annual Farm Safety Day.

Farm Safety Day is when 4th-6th graders go to the fairgrounds to learn about how to be safe and what to do in emergencies. Members of the community helped along with members of the Vinton, Benton, and Belle Plain FFA Chapters. Some helpers taught about different topics and others were group leaders, and lead the groups from class to class.

Classes that were taught include, tractor safety, skid loader safety, ATV safety, grain bin safety, electrical safety, fire safety, first aid, animal safety, and the participants even got to simulate a 911 call. All of these classes are meant to teach kids about how to be safe and how to deal with an accident without panicking.

After going through all 10 stations the kids and all who helped throughout the day had lunch that the Beef Producers provided. It was an amazing day that hopefully provided knowledge to the students who showed up!
