The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a motor vehicle accident 3 miles south of Shellsburg on 32nd Avenue (W26) in Benton County that killed Chris Benesh, 34, of Shellsburg.
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning, Sept. 16.
The lone driver was southbound on 32nd Avenue on what local residents call the "S-curve" north of Atkins when the vehicle left the roadway in a curve a struck an embankment.
Benesh was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Agencies responding to the scene were the Shellsburg First Responders, Shellsburg Fire Department, Hiawatha Ambulance and Life Guard Helicopter in Cedar Rapids,
The accident is currently under investigation by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
A Burlington native, Benesh was engaged to Dawn Janey, also of Shellsburg. He was a journeyman iron worker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. See his complete obituary HERE.
