Monday is Fake Injury/Animal dress up day at Vinton-Shellsburg High School, where many students dressed up as people with a variety of injuries, or animals, during the first day of Homecoming Week.

Nolan Sagan did both, wearing a chicken costume and an arm sling.

Nolan was one of the 10 candidates for Homecoming King. The 10 candidates for King and Queen gathered on the stage during an assembly Monday morning.

Queen candidates, left to right, are: Devin Womochil, Bethany Stainbrook, Ashley McKenna, Emma Lippmann, Karley Kenney, Mara Jessen, Maddy Elwick, Lexi Druger, Carley Deklotz and Jacey Cummings.

King candidates, left to right, are: Griffin Williams, Tanner Spies, Nolan Sagan, Chase Overton, Luke Moen, Wyatt Meyer, Jacob Isbell, Ben Hyland and Andrew Freeman. Not pictured: Sam Martin.

The five finalists will be named Tuesday afternoon before the traditional downtown window and banner painting.
