Vinton-Shellsburg School Board incumbents Mike Timmermans, Rob Levis and Sue Gates won re-election in Tuesday's school board election. Kathy Van Steenhuyse was elected to the at-large vacancy.
Timmermans, running unopposed in the District 1 race, received 520 votes.
In the at-large contest, Gates received 413 votes and Levis, 351. Challenger Bethany Gates received 184.
In the at large/vacancy contest, Van Steenhuyse received 263 votes, Kyle Schminke, 242, and Marcia Booth, 80.
Van Steenhuyse will be sworn it at the next meeting of the VS School Board; Gates and Levis will also recite again the Oath of Office.
Low Turnout throughout county
According to the Benton County Auditor's Office, only between 5 and 10 percent of eligible county voters went to the polls on Tuesday.
