The Benton County Republicans reconvened their 2012 convention on Tuesday, August 27, to elect a candidate to represent the Benton County Republicans on the November ballot for the recently vacated Supervisor District 1 position, formerly held by Jason Sanders.

Todd Andrew Wiley was selected at the special convention to represent the Benton County Republicans in the November election.

Todd and his wife Denise reside West of Walker with their four children. He is a third generation farmer and has managed the family’s hog business, Interstate Swine, LLC., since it’s inception in 1998.  He enjoys working with five full time employees and has had to manage through challenging times with very high feed costs and low hog prices resulting from the “swine flu”.  He is experienced at cutting expenses when necessary and capable of managing through difficult periods.

Todd considers himself a public servant and has demonstrated that by serving for nine years on the Vinton-Shellsburg School Board, as President and board member of Vinton Unlimited, and countless years of service to the county, state, and national pork producer associations.  He is currently a Director on the Farmers Savings Bank and Trust board along with serving on the Iowa Farm Bureau Swine Advisory Committee.  He and his family are active members and parishioners of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton

A thorough, thoughtful decision maker, Todd values homegrown businesses and will use rational, conservative leadership to encourage their expansion and to manage the county business and budget.
