News : Dawn Richards, Dave Bierschenk win Farmers Market Salsa Contest

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department held its annual Salsa Contest at the Vinton Farmers Market on Thursday, August 15th. This year’s winners were Dawn Richards & Dave Bierschenk. Dawn won the Mild Salsa Category and Dave won the category that included Hot, Spicy, Fruity and other varieties. After the salsas were judge all of the market goers had their chance to sample and find their favorite.

Celebrating judges were Scott Tharp, Alyssa Valcourt, Mike Merchant and Nathan Hesson. The salsa was then enjoyed by everyone at the market. Start planning now for next year contest by trying some new recipes with this seasons produce at the market.

Next Thursday, August 22nd at the market we will be having the Vinton Community Band performing. The market takes place at the Vinton Rail Road Depot from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. through the end of September.
