AmeriCorps NCCC Oak 4 Serving on Last Project in Flint, Michigan The NCCC team Oak 4 is spending their fifth and final project in Flint, MI renovating homes for low income residents. They are working with the Flint Housing Commission to meet the growing need for decent, affordable homes. The economic downturn and loss of jobs in Flint has left many residents unemployed and searching for a place to live. The NCCC team is working to address this issue by preparing unoccupied apartments for new tenants. This entails thorough cleaning, refinishing floors, and a lot of painting. This being their final project, the team has been able to utilize some of the skills they have gained on previous house rehabilitation and construction projects. Oak 4 is enjoying the work and is excited about the opportunity to experience life in Flint and gain a better understanding of the city.
