News : Possible scam artist claiming to be with Sheriff's Office

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that there is an individual or organization making telephone calls to area businesses and individuals asking for donations for advertising on maps of Benton County.

The caller advises that he is representing the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and is asking for personal history information to confirm the call.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office does not promote the solicitation of any advertising.

A general reminder that personal information should never be given over the telephone especially birth dates, social security numbers, and credit card information. You should always ask for call back number and return a call to them if they are a legitimate organization before giving out any information.
