Candidate Resume: Ron Tippett for Supervisor

With the primary election just a little over a week away, I want to share some information with you all. I’m originally from LaPorte City and have spent the last 38 years working in Law Enforcement in Benton County. I live in Vinton with my wife, Cindy, and we have 2 grown children and 3 granddaughters. I’m an active member of the Vinton Lions Club, the Benton County Republicans, and the Vinton Presbyterian Church.

Candidate Resume: Bruce Volz for Supervisor

 I was born and raised on a family farm west of Norway.  I attended Norway schools and graduated in 1976. I worked for United Airlines for 27 years, that is where I met my wife.  Unfortunately, after 911, the airline industry suffered greatly and we both lost our full time jobs on the same day.  I started a Commercial Janitorial business and ran it for 12 years,  selling it in 2014.

Since I submitted my background information in a prior article, I would like to take the opportunity to explain why I am the best candidate for Benton County Supervisor. My goals are simple and are answers to the highest priority problems I feel Benton County is currently experiencing.1. Honesty, Transparency, and Trust. Unfortunately, the current Supervisors have lost the trust of Benton County citizens by their actions.

Volunteer Auction Funds V-S FFA Activities

The auctioneer kept the night moving with 44 members participating! By: Co-Reporter, Izzie BirkerOn Monday, April 8th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter held their annual Volunteer Auction. At this event, members can sign up to volunteer their time within the community doing a variety of tasks including basic chores like mowing or cooking, babysitting, working concession stands, picking rock, and gardening just to name a few.

Some of our beautiful Dahlias at the plant sales! By: Co-Reporter, Izzie BirkerThis year plant sales took place on April 23rd, 26th, 27th, 30th, May 3rd, 4th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, and 16th. In the greenhouse this year, there were many different varieties of flowers, hanging baskets, planter boxes and so much more! During the sale, the High School Greenhouse Management students and FFA members came in to work the sales to enhance the customer experience.
