The Benton County Sheriff's Office participated in a special enforcement wave on September 28th. Deputies focused their attention on Highway 30 west of 218 where there have been public complaints of excessive speeding.

The efforts to turn the area southeast of Vinton into housing developments has been going on for years, and now, home buyers and developers have an opportuntity to bid on nine lots in a recently-approved rural addition.

  Don Eells brought a unique ride to the Homecoming parade last week: His 1972 Vespa scooter. Don, wearing a shirt welcoming back the members of the Class of 1962 who attended Homecoming events and their 55th reunion, said he had a similar scooter while he was in high school.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says Lenny Geiger died Saturday afternoon in a motorcyle accident northeast of Vinton. The accident was reported on 55th Street Trail, east of 33rd Avenue near the Benton/Linn County line.
