Virginia Gay Hospital’s Lisa Rule Elected to Iowa Trauma Coordinators Board
Virginia Gay Hospital (VGH) proudly announces that Lisa Rule, Trauma Coordinator, has been elected to the Iowa Trauma Coordinators Board for the Iowa Hospital Association. Lisa will serve as the representative for District B, advocating for the needs of Virginia Gay Hospital and other rural healthcare providers at the state level.In her new role, Lisa will collaborate with trauma coordinators from across Iowa to advance the state’s trauma system, focusing on improving access and outcomes in rural communities. The History Center in Cedar Rapids has been named the Silos & Smokestacks 2024 “People’s Choice Site of the Year.” The Scenic City Empress Boat Club in Iowa Falls and the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids were both honored as being one of the top three sites.“We are thrilled to recognize The History Center as our People’s Choice site of the year,” said Silos & Smokestacks Executive Director Cara Miller. Last night, the spirit of the season swept through Vinton as residents gathered for the highly anticipated holiday parade, welcoming Santa Claus to town. The festive event was a community-wide effort, featuring local businesses, organizations, and even the Vinton Police and Fire Departments.The parade began with a stirring display of patriotism, as area veterans proudly carried the flags, leading the procession under clear skies and a brisk 36°F temperature. KEEP IOWA BEAUTIFUL 15TH ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
Keep Iowa Beautiful's 15th Annual Photography Contest is in full swing! This annual contest aims at raising awareness of Iowa's natural and environmental beauty.The two-phase contest ends on Friday, December 13, 2024. Each of the six categories will be awarded $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place. "This is a great way for Iowans to share what they like about Iowa," said Andy Frantz, Keep Iowa Beautiful Executive Director. Christmas Parade to kick off the season in Vinton on November 21
The annual Lighted Holiday Parade will be held in downtown Vinton on Thursday, November 21st, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This marks the 17th year for the event. The parade is organized by the local veterans and bring Santa Claus to town for the season. Organizations are invited to participate by decorating a float, adding some lights for the festivities and joining in the fun.
