Americorp Adds New Members to the Vinton Campus

Americorp and Vinton welcomed a new class of almost 200 members who arrived this week at the former Braille School/Americorp Campus. A large group arrived from the airport of about 80 and were processed at the school gym in the afternoon on Wednesday.

VMEU Votes to Begin Construction of Broadband Project

In the midst of whiteout conditions, close to 40 people made it to the Vinton City Hall to show their support of the Broadband Project. Ironically, the use of electronic devices assisted in all of the board being able to "attend" the meeting.

Sheriff's Office travel advisory for all of Benton County

Travel in Benton County is not advised, Highway 218 from Vinton to Highway 30 is closed, Highway 218 from La Porte City to Vinton, also numerous large snow drifts on most hard surface roads, travel is strongly discouraged throughout the entire county.

100th Day of School Celebration at Tilford Elementary

Every year Tilford celebrates the 100th day of school with the children and teachers dressing up as 100 year olds.This year they students might be a bit off for their hundredth day thanks to the winter weather, but it doesn't lessen the fun.

Father Daughter Dance Making Memories

The Annual Father Daughter Dance at the Vinton Skate Center was held on Saturday evening.  Little girls dressed up in their ruffles and bows with dads in their dress shirts and ties were a sight to warm the heart.
