How safe is the blood supply?

Each year, LifeServe Blood Center performs more than one million tests on blood products collected from volunteer blood donors. Each individual blood unit is put through fifteen tests to ensure its safety! These tests are performed in a state-of-the-art laboratory to make sure every blood product is safe to transfuse to a hospital patient.

In order to maintain the highest of quality and safety standards, LifeServe Blood Center relies on healthy, honest and responsible volunteer blood donors to make life-saving blood donations.

We also test all donations for the COVDI antibodies. If the donor consents to the test during registration for the drive, a sample will be sent to the State of Iowa testing facility and the results will be available to the donor via their LifeServe online profile in 7-10 days.
