TIPS Certified Alcohol Server/Sales Trainings

Attached you will find a flyer for our upcoming server training (TIPS) for Linn and Benton Counties. Please share this with any establishment that serves alcohol or sells it, and encourage them to attend! Some insurance companies will lower a business’ Dram Shop insurance by up to 25% when they have servers who are certified in TIPS.

Crop Scouting Competition for Iowa Youth

We are pleased to announce the upcoming 2011 Iowa Crop Scouting Competitions.   The competitions will be held in late July/early August.  High school students (those completing grades 9?12) who have used the Scouting Curriculum from across Iowa are invited to compete and showcase their scouting abilities in corn and soybean fields.

Handgun Safety Class being offered

  A new law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.
