I think that we can all agree that 2020 has definitely not been going the way any of us thought it would.  With the thought of safety and social distancing in mind, along with keeping our community as safe as possible, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Party in the Park 2020.

The Ray & Virginia Boyer Annual Spring Fish Fry scheduled for April 24 has been canceled.  We want to thank everyone for their past support and hope to offer our fall fish fry as scheduled on Oct 23.

Our theme for the One Book, One Community for the end of March was to be a tourist in your own town.We had visions of tours around town discussing the murals and finding out the backstory of these paintings that mean so much to Vinton, tours of downtown finding out what buildings used to be what, tours of the Braille School, the Depot, etc.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight that was scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 will not occur on that day, but will be rescheduled. Due to the COVID -19 ( Coronavirus), the National Honor Flight Organization has required all local Honor Flight hubs to suspend flights through May 31st.

In a statement, Virginia Gay Hospital shared the following:"Due to the recent COVID-19 health concerns, we have decided it is prudent to postpone the Benton County Community Health & Wellness Fair.

The Vinton Kiwanis have made the decision to cancel all Kiwanis meetings for the Month of March.The Kiwanis have also made the tough decision to cancel the Easter Egg hunt which was scheduled for  April 11.

The following event has been canceled...-----Join us to support Vinton Lutheran home! Friday, March 27, from 6-9:00 p.m.Proceeds from this event will help us provide new furnishings to our Memory Care Unit residents.

Food distribution will still happen Saturday morning, 3/21/20 from 10:00 - 11:00 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton. Extra safety precautions will be used and food will be pre-packaged and distributed outside the church.

The East Central Iowa STEM Festival committee members have chosen to cancel the event scheduled for March 29th from 1:00 — 4:00.  With amazing hands-on activities at these events, we feel it is better to proceed with caution as these activities would be prime avenues to spread germs.
