Events and Activities : VPRD plans Kids Triathlon; co-ed adult softball registration begins

VPRD has some upcoming events that give you opportunity to stay active during this long, hot stretch of summer! On the morning of Saturday, July 28th, VPRD will be hosting its 3rd annual 'Kids Triathlon.' The race is divided out by age divisions and gender. The 7-8 year olds will do a 50 meter swim, 1.2 mile bike ride, and a 0.6 mile run. 9-10 year olds will complete a 100 meter swim, 1.8 mile bike ride and a 1.2 mile run. 11-12, and 13-14 year old divisions will complete a 200 meter swim, a 3.6 mile bike ride, and a 1.2 mile run. The cost of this race is $10 and contestants must register for the race by July 20th to avoid incurring a late penalty. The race will get underway at 8 AM and will take place in the area surrounding the Vinton Recreation Center. VPRD's Coed Softball League is now accepting team registrations and league play will tentatively begin on Sunday, August 12th. Games will be played on Sunday afternoons and early evenings. If you are interested in getting a team together for this fall league, please submit your team registration and $30 deposit by Friday, August 3rd. Team fees and format of the league will be determined based on the number of teams registered.
