Spring is on the way, if you want to learn about planting and managing native grasses and flowers, the Benton County IRVM (Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management) Committee will be hosting a meeting at 7:00 P.M., March 18, 2010 at the Farmer Savings Bank and Trust, 401 B Ave,(use west door). The Iowa Coordinator of County IRVM programs, Kirk Henderson will be the featured speaker. He will be talking about planting and managing native grasses and flowers in our roadsides and on private lands. The newly appointed Benton County IRVM committee will be there to answer your questions if you have questions about the roadside project in Benton County. The organization strongly encourages anyone who is interested in returning our public or private areas to native plants for the preservation and conservation of Iowa natural habitat to attend. Mr. Henderson will have valuable information on managing these areas from a practical standpoint and discussing the long term management concerns. If you have any questions, contact either Ann Jorgensen, 319 472 3903 or the County Engineer, Myron Praizek.
