The Cedar River Watershed Coalition’s next meeting will be held Friday, September 16th. In an exciting development, Richard Sloan of the Lime Creek Watershed Council has offered to host a conservation tour of his farm (3046 Harrison Ave, Rowley IA) at 11:30 am prior to the meeting. He will show the practices he has found most useful in controlling soil erosion and limiting nutrient loss, and will discuss how that benefits the Lime Creek watershed.

The full Coalition meeting will convene at 1:00 pm at the Brandon Community Center (802 Main Street, Brandon IA). Participants in the meeting will learn about tools and resources available from a variety of sources to help get local watershed projects underway. A panel discussion will feature watershed coordinators to discuss their experience getting projects off the ground. The panelists will be available to answer questions about applying for funding, building support, and other “nuts and bolts” aspects of starting a watershed group.
