Jeanette Matheny Haars will give a presentation on "Getting Started on Genealogy" at the Center Point Historical Society Depot Museum in Center Point this Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. The workshop is free. Jeanette, originally from Center Point, has been doing genealogy for 20 years and is a long time volunteer at the Genealogical Society of Linn County. This year's special exhibit at the Museum is called "Passing Through Time" about death and funeral customs. The History Center in Cedar Rapids has loaned a human hair wreath for the display and several items including a nineteenth century toe pincher coffin are on loan from Murdoch Funeral Homes. The Museum is open, free, every Sunday, 1 to 4, through Oct. 16.
