The Vinton-Shellsburg High School Drama Department is putting the finishing touches on its production of “James and the Giant Peach,” which will take the stage at the VSHS auditorium on Saturday, April 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 11at 2 p.m.
When his mother (Marisa Chavez) and father (Wyatt Oltrogge) are swallowed up by a rhinoceros, poor James (Parker Oltrogge) is left in the care of his nasty aunts, Spiker (Nikki Thompson) and Sponge (Stephanie Waterbury). Something rather peculiar happens one night and soon James finds himself on the adventure of a lifetime.
Along the way, he meets Spider (Megan Horst), Old Green Grasshopper (Wesley Lyons), Centipede (Matt Walston), Earthworm (Will Hancock), Glo-Worm (Lexy Cornell), Bluebird (Tess Noeller), Lady Bug (Emma Horst) and Fly (Heitor Stollai).
Several other high school performers round out the cast of Ants, Officers, Cloud People and Onlookers, including Ivy Huber, Willow Huber, Claire Andreesen, Alexis Freese, Alexis Peterson, Karley Kirchner, Erin Fowler, Greg Blind, Kyle Hanson, Josh Ridley, Rylie Pfluhaupt, Emily Finch, Alysha Wehage, Stephanie Candler, and Caitlin Loney.
