On Sunday, March 14, the Dysart Historical Society will hold a fund raiser spaghetti dinner. It will be held at the Dysart Community Building from 10:30 A.M. .until 1:30 P.M.. The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, relishes, garlic and/or cheese bread, ice cream and cookie, coffee and milk. There will be a free will offering for the meal.
The Historical Society is beginning an active effort to raise funds for a new agricultural museum and interpretive center to be constructed north of the present museum and country school buildings.
The Historical Society has a large number of items stored on local farms because there isn’t adequate space in the existing buildings to display them. The new building will help preserve the items for present and future generations and will make them available for the enjoyment of historical center visitors.
The project is part of Tama County’s Iowa Great Places Project. In order to secure enough funding for the local project, the Dysart Historical Society Board is preparing a number of grant applications, most of which require matching funds. The spaghetti dinner will help with raising these necessary matching funds.
The Dysart Historical Center has welcomed an increasing number of visitors each year since it was established. The addition of an agricultural building will add a great way to share our local agricultural heritage and modern progress. Please mark your calendar for the March 14th dinner.
