Events and Activities : Memorial Day ceremonies planned in Vinton

Weather permitting, the Memorial Day ceremonies will take place in Vinton at their traditional times and locations.

8:00AM: Military Honors at Maplewood Cemetery.

8:15AM Military Honors at St Mary's Cemetery.

8:30AM Military Honors at Evergreen Cemetery (by the Civil War Monument).

10:00AM March to the Cedar River Bridge, and tribute to Navy veterans.

11:00AM A Memorial Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park. VSMS history teacher Mr. Alex Vasquez will speak, and offer some information about recent research into the flag-raising at Iwo Jima. The most recent monument added to Veterans park is an Iwo Jima silhouette.

If it is raining at 11:00 on Memorial Day, the program scheduled to be held at the Veterans park will be held at the American Legion Building, 105 North R Ave.

If it is raining at the start time of all the other planed events, they will be canceled.
