Events and Activities : Vinton Feeds the World project to return; fund-raising dinner set for Aug. 26

A fund-raising meal for the Vinton Feeds the World event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. All proceeds from this free-will offering event will go toward purchasing supplies for the Vinton Feeds the World effort to package more than 25,000 meals.

The pasta dinner, sponsored by Pizza Hut and Thrivent, includes an option of marinara or alfredo sauce and garlic bread. Salads and desserts will be provided by members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Vinton Presbyterian Church and Blessed Hope Church.

The second annual Vinton Feeds the world event will take place Sunday, Sept. 13. Volunteers will meet at the Skate Center at 1 p.m.

Organizer Marta Bauer said that last year, organizers hoped for 200 volunteers but ended up with nearly 300, and found something for them all to do.
