The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 10:00 am at Culver's Greenhouse in Marion, IA. Our speakers were Rachel and Jennifer, they gave us a tour of the greenhouse and talked about the “new varieties for 2015”. We shopped in the gift shop then had our club meeting in the board room in the executive building.

President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 11:45 pm. Nine members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge. Roll call was taken by question of “What new plant was interesting for you?

Fran told club about “Green Scene 39” Annual Plant Sale in Waterloo, Saturday May 9th from 9:00 am to 12 pm or until plants are all gone.

Garden Therapy: discussion on the upcoming therapy at Cedar Valley Ranch Tuesday, April 7th. At 9:00 am, we will have a short meeting afterward. All members are asked to help.

Unfinished Business:

Fran reminded us about the upcoming Benton County Master Gardener Extravaganza on April 18th

Fran has inquired to a couple places to see if they would like a tree planted for Arbor Day April 24th on their property but she hasn't heard back from them yet.

The District II meeting is Friday May 1, 2015 in Hiawatha with Good Earth Garden Club as hostess.

Fran attended Green Scene symposium in Waterloo. She enjoyed the 5 good speakers they had, on cold hard perennials, butterflies, caring for unusual houseplants orchids, air plants and bromeliad, emerald ash borer and other infestations, vertical vines and variants.

Members thanked Susie Hansen for hostessing the meeting.

Meeting was adjourned.

After the meeting the club members went to Cheddars for lunch before heading home.
