Events and Activities : Voyagers, Alumni to celebrate 35 years of dancing, Feb. 28

The Voyager Dance Team will be celebrating 35 years of performing for the Vinton-Shellsburg School District on February 28, 2015. Started in 1979, the Voyagers have been entertaining at basketball halftimes, parades and community events; performing a variety of styles from pom, prop, hiphop, jazz, light routines and the crowd favorite, high kick. The 2015 Voyager Dance Team is coached by Melanie Davis. Come help celebrate with the dance team at their annual Spring Show, February 28th, held at the Middle School gym. Doors open at 6:30, show starting 7:00pm. Admission is $5.00 at the door. Student Activity and Fine Arts passes not accepted. There will be door prizes, Junior Voyager Clinic performances and guest performers. Also performing is The Voyager Alumni. Spanning all years, many former members have been practicing hard to prove that after 35 years, they still have it! The dance team has been through several coaches, budget cuts, dance style changes, school mergings… one thing remains constant: Pride. The team represents a legacy of hard work and dedication that not only the dancers themselves can take pride in, but the community that has watched and supported through the years.
