It’s Fancy Nancy redux (that’s fancy for bringing it back) for the Center Point Friends of the Library.

Friends is planning another fund raising tea party based on the “Fancy Nancy” children’s books by Jane O’Connor. (The last one was in 2011.) This one is Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. in the Center Point Public Library basement (with a bad winter weather date of Feb. 7.)

The fun will include red carpet introductions by an English butler, fancy jewelry and accessories to try on and wear home, fingernails and make-up doing, fancy fans to craft, and gift bags made by the local “Sewing Sisters” quilting group. Tea and tantalizing (that’s fancy for tasty) tidbits and pink lemonade will be served.

Because of limited room, reservations are required, by January 24. Admission is $8 per guest. Children must be accompanied by an adult. (Party is most suitable for ages 4 and up.) Check to Friends of Center Point Library, name of guests and phone number may be dropped in the Friends box at the Library desk or mailed to Friends at P.O. Box 54, Center Point, 52213.

For questions or to be part of the fancy fun by volunteering time or materials, please call 849-1792.

Friends had a tea party planning session at the Pizza Place on Dec. 15. At the regular meeting at the Library on Dec. 4 vice president Marj Pepin reported on the $7,000 grant for Library expansion furnishings Friends was awarded by the Riverside Casino group.

Friends also had a little Christmas party and decorated a Library Giving Tree. Patrons may take a paper ornament off the tree and give the item written on it, such as washable markers or glitter, to the Library for a Christmas present. Most of the ornaments are for children’s programming.

Those attending the Friends meeting and Christmas party were: president Christina Lahr, vice president Marj Pepin, secretary Sharon Hannen, treasurer Vicki Thompson, members Roberta Gilchrist and Kim Schantz and special guests Andria Gager, Gwen Klima and Carolyn Roseberry.

Guests are always welcome at Friends meetings (but goodies aren’t always served.) The next regular meeting is Thursday, Jan 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Library.
