Events and Activities : Isle of Iowa Head Club to raise money for E. Iowa Honor Flight, Oct. 12

“Party with a Purpose.” This pretty much describes Island Fever 2013, and the Isle of Iowa Parrot Head Club. This group is more than just a bunch of Jimmy Buffet fanatics and lovers of island music. They are a group of people with a deep commitment to the community,and a passion for helping those in need and supporting civic causes. Yes, they have a LOT of fun, but in the process they raise a LOT of money that gets given back to charitable organizations within the community:

Each year at the Island Fever, they designate a charity that the event proceeds are directed to. For 2013, they have selected the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight as their event charity and to be the recipient of the event proceeds.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is a volunteer run, 501(c)3 Federally recognized charitable non-profit. Their mission is to provide our veterans with the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC at no cost to see the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. Currently they serve World War II, Korea, and terminally ill veterans who are able to make the flight. Since their first flight in 2010, they have flown a total of 14 flights, and transported nearly 1000 veterans to Washington, DC.

Island Fever 2013, will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Clarion Hotel,525 33rd Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404. The party is from 6:00 PM to midnight. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 the day of the party if there are still tickets are available. Great music, wonderful silent auction, 50/50 drawing, hey it is all there. This is a very popular event, and other Parrot Head clubs throughout the region will travel to be here for the party.
