Vinton Garden Club's 28th Annual Plant and Bake Sale will be held on Friday, May 13 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, at the Benton County Fair Grounds
Open Class Building, South 2nd Ave.,Vinton, IA 52349
Where you can find some very nice plants and some very
delicious goodies.
Call for Entries: Be Part of Butter Cow Tribute at 2011 Iowa State Fair
To celebrate 100 years of the Butter Cow, the Iowa State Fair will display a limited number of concrete "tribute" cows throughout the grounds during the Fair and is giving the public the chance to paint them and win prizes valued at more than $300 for their designs.
To be considered, individuals, clubs and companies are invited to simply complete an application with their proposed paint design.

City Wide Garage Sales the weekend of May 15th
University of Iowa Community Credit Union will be sponsoring Vinton's City Wide Garage Sale next weekend.
If you have a garage sale you'd like to have included in their listing, please drop off the information as soon as possible.
There will be a complete list available to pick up at the office, and you will be able to view the list on our website.

Save the Date for Vinton's Two-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament
Vinton's Two-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament that will be held on Friday July 15, 2011 at the Vinton Country Club. Tee-times will be at 9:00am & 1:00pm. The team fee is $50 for 9-holes at 9:00am or 1:00pm or $80.00 for 18-holes beginning at 9:00am. Lunch is included and will be served in the club house from 11:00am-1:00pm.

TIPS Certified Alcohol Server/Sales Trainings
Attached you will find a flyer for our upcoming server training (TIPS) for Linn and Benton Counties. Please share this with any establishment that serves alcohol or sells it, and encourage them to attend! Some insurance companies will lower a business’ Dram Shop insurance by up to 25% when they have servers who are certified in TIPS.
Benton County Relay For Life
Luminaria - To honor and remember
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Benton County will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at the Vinton Shellsburg High School Track, Vinton.
One important aspect of the relay is the opportunity for people in the county to come together to remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those who are fighting now or have won their battle.
4th Annual Flower Pot Challenge & BBQ with North Benton Ambulance
Windsor Manor Assisted Living is gearing up for our Annual Flower Pot Challenge! Area businesses and individuals are asked to put together a creative flower pot that showcases your business or personality and bring it to Windsor Manor by Friday, May 27th. Your flower pot will be judged by the residents of Windsor Manor and remain on display throughout the summer.
