Rally Sunday at Vinton Presbyterian Church
The Presbyterian Church of Vinton will celebrate the beginning of its program year with a variety of events this coming Sunday, Sept. 14.
Rally Day, or Rally Sunday, is the traditional name for the beginning of the church program year as people return from their summer schedules. While the church remains active during summer months, programming, events, and activities are more frequent during the school calendar year.
Ag Lender's Seminar set for Oct. 29
The 28th Annual Tri-State Agriculture Lender’s Seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at the Midway Best Western Hotel in Dubuque, Iowa from 9:45 am – 3:00 pm. This year’s focus is on market outlooks for livestock, grains and dairy in addition along with the issues of crop budgeting, crop insurance and the farm bill.

Backyard Forest Field Day set for Sept. 20

Trees Forever and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources invite landowners who own woodlands smaller than 15 acres for a day of learning from local specialists.
Century Fine Arts Club Board to meet Monday; public invited

La Porte City Fall Festival set for Sept. 21

Fall is in the air, and there is no better way to celebrate the delights of season than La Porte City Museum’s Fall Festival Sunday, September 21st, from 11-3. This old fashion family fun filled event has something for everyone and is jam packed with food, music, a variety of vendors, live demonstrations, and loads of free activities and entertainment.
VPRD 2-person best shot tourney set for Sept. 20
The Two-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, September 20th. This is an 18-hole tournament that costs $60.00 per team. This includes green fees, flight prizes, lunch, shirt, goody bag, door prizes and stake prizes. Only the first 20 teams per tee time are guaranteed a spot. Tee times are 8:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. Each group will be a foursome to help speed up play.
VPRD plans Back-to-School bash, Sept. 6, with skating, mini-golf
School is now back-in-session and the Vinton Skate & Activity Center is now in its 15th year as a VPRD facility. We think this calls for a party! To celebrate, the Vinton Skate & Activity Center will be hosting a Back-To-School Bash on Saturday, September 6th from 6-9 PM. For only $3, attendees can take part in skating AND unlimited mini golf! We will also have concession specials, 50 cent hotdogs and prize drawings all night long so make sure you round up your family for this can’t miss event!

Social Security information meeting set for Sept. 11
From 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, there will be an informational meeting on Social Security questions at the Vinton library.
Representatives from the Social Security Administration will be on hand to discuss how Social Security is an essential part of retirement, disability and survivor benefit planning. Participants will also learn how to verify earnings history and how to create their own My Social Security account on the www.
Post Prom meeting Sept. 7
The next Junior Parents Post Prom Meeting will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Tilford Elementary.
