Wesley United Methodist will resume food distribution inside with masks required

The Wesley United Methodist Church food pantry will be inside the Church beginning on Saturday October 17. Our hours are 10-11.  We are the church next to the library  We require that everyone wear a mask.  If you do not have one we can provide one for you. You can get a number and stay in your car if you prefer.  There will be marks 6ft apart if you line up on the sidewalk.

Operation E.D.I.T.H. Thursday night 7:00 p.m.

Operation EDITH is a fire-safety program that seeks to encourage the parents of young children to talk to their kids about the importance of fire safety. The cornerstone of the campaign is Exit Drill In The Home, thus the name "EDITH". The purpose is to educate early elementary school children and their families about the life-saving value of having a fire escape plan from their home.

Legion Post 57 Tenderloin Dinner, Friday, October 9

The Legion will hold a Tenderloin Supper on Friday, October 9th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. For $8.00, you can get a 6 oz Tenderloin on a Kaiser Bun, with French Fries and a Dessert.The Legion is located at 105 N. R Ave. in Vinton. 

Isaac Walton League Sportsman's Day 2020

The Red Cedar Chapter of the Isaac Walton League is hosting a  Sportsman’s Day Saturday, October 17 at their clubhouse at 5667 24th AveDrive (Hiway 150) north of Vinton. Activities run from 10 am to 4 pm and include a sportsman’s swap meet, silent auction, gun raffle, open trap shoot, archery shoot, casting contest and outdoor activities for children of all ages.

Miles for Meals - Virtual 5K!

Lace up your shoes and join us for our 1st Annual "Miles for Meals 5K Run/Walk" supporting the VS Backpack program! Even though we will not be gathering in person, for our annual run, we can still come together to support our youth virtually!A virtual event means that you can participate in the 5K from anywhere you choose. You can run/walk in your neighborhood or in the park or in a neighborhood!Goal is to raise "1000 meals"Your registration/donation will help students who qualify for the Free & Reduced meal program at the Vinton-Shellsburg CSD.

The Lions Club will hold their Tenderloin Tuesday, October 6th, at Celebration Park, 5-7:00 p.m.There will also be the following served: Sno-Cones, Funnel Cakes, Potato Coins and Hot Dogs.

Shellsburg American Legion Breakfast Saturday 8-10:00 a.m.

The Shellsburg American Legion Saturday morning breakfast.Menu:Every Saturday: Eggs, Sausage & Pancakes1st Sat special: Biscuits & GravyCost is Free Will DonationThe hours are the same, 8 - 10 am. We ask people to social distant at the tables (families of course can sit together) and wear masks if you choose.  The breakfast will be served to keep handling items to a minimum.

Shellsburg Fire Department to host Pancake Breakfast October 4

It’s the last Farmers Market of the season.
