Fish Fry this Friday September 10

This Friday, September 10, the Vinton American Legion will hold a fish fry dinner at the American George G. Luckey Post in Vinton. The cost of the meal is $10 dine in or take out.Meal includes: Fish Fillet, Baked Potato, Coleslaw, Baked Beans and a DessertAdults: $10.00Children 5 to 12: $5.00Children under 5: FreeAll you can eat, while supplies last.

2021 Nathan's Miles Glow Fun Run October 16

We are proud to announce the Kickoff Event of the new VPRD Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16th....Nathan's Miles Glow Fun Run 5K!!! This is a great, affordable family event. Come out and run the first 5K to be held on Nathan's Miles. There will be a Kids Glow Run at 6:30 pm, and then the 5K begins at 7:30 pm. You can register for the event at the link below.

CP Historical Society Cemetery Walk September 19

On Sunday, September 19, the Center Point Historical Society will host its Annual Cemetery Walk, at the Center Point Cemetery, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Admission for the event is $5. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, October 3, at 4:00 p.m.

Vinton Guild of Fine Arts hosts Workshop for Artists and Community Planners

The Vinton Guild of Fine Arts will be hosting a workshop for artists and community planners about mural painting.  It will be an all-day workshop (10 am - 3 pm) on Saturday, Sept. 25th, at Pourville (location dependent on numbers and COVID).  The workshop will provide tips and techniques for creating large exterior murals and for planning, budgeting, and funding them, including preparation and materials.

Reunion to be held for Founders and Alum of the Old Creamery Theatre Company

Come celebrate, in Garrison, Iowa, the founding of The Old Creamery Theatre Company 50 years ago. Sponsored by those founding members who are still alive and kicking. The celebration is open to anyone who worked at, attended, or contributed to the success of The Creamery since 1971, including former company members, board members, attendees, and volunteers.

Vinton Lions Club to hold the last Tenderloin Tuesday of the Season

Join the Lions on Tuesday, August 31st at Celebration Park from 5-7 PM. This will be the last Tenderloin Tuesday of the Season! We are grateful for the community support and enjoy seeing all your smiling faces. There will be a full menu is available. The Lions trailer raises funds that support our community and Lions Clubs International outreach throughout the world.

Bring the Noise 5K this Saturday morning, August 28

Lace up your shoes and get training friends! The Bring the Noise 5K is BACK!! What better way to start off Boomfest/Boomtown Weekend than with a run around town!Calling all runners (and walkers)! Come join us for the Annual "Bring the Noise 5K" brought to you by Vinton Noon Kiwanis.We will have a 5K Race & A 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Back in person this year we are lacing up our shoes on August 28.

GOOD WEATHER, GOOD FUN FOR CENTER POINT LOG CABIN FESTIVAL

Bubbly Tom and Eunice Pingenot entertained at the Center Point Historical Society with their bubbles The Center Point Historical Society was favored with probably the most perfect day of the summer for the return of its annual Log Cabin Festival on Sunday, Aug. 22. (Last year's festival was canceled because of the covid pandemic.)An estimated 35 visitors toured the 1850s Strait Log Cabin, watched wood carving and needlework demonstrations, got their portrait sketched, or tried their hand at giant bubble making, hoop rolling, corn shelling, rope making or washing on a washboard.
