Julia Davis of Natick, Mass., is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 6 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because service has always been an integral part of her life and she wanted to dedicate herself to it fulltime after graduating from college.

Julie graduated from Natick High School in 2008 and University of Delaware in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Behavior Science. After her service term ends she hopes to do another term of service with a different AmeriCorps program.

In January 2012, Julie traveled to Tanzania to volunteer in a preschool classroom for a few weeks over winter break. She says, “It was a GREAT experience and I loved every minute of it. While in Tanzania, I was able to really learn about the culture, experience something completely new and was able to grow as a person.”

Julie and her team are currently serving on their final project in Washington, D.C. after spending the last two rounds in New Jersey working on the Hurricane Sandy response with FEMA. They return to Vinton in June for graduation.
