Name: Conor McCormack
Hometown: Worcestor, Mass.
Conor is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 3 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because he grew up with a strong commitment to community service and thought that this program would be an ideal way for him to give back to his country while also gaining great work experience.
Conor graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 2008 and Loyola University Chicago in 2012 where he majored in history and minored in political science. After his service term ends he hopes to find a job, possibly in the area of politics or federal service.
Conor has had the opportunity to spend a fair amount of time backpacking throughout Europe, an experience that has prepared him for the variety of living situations he has encountered during service. He and his team are currently serving on their final project in Denver, Colorado after spending the last two rounds in New Jersey working on the Hurricane Sandy response with FEMA. They return to Vinton in June for graduation.
