The NCCC team of Oak 6 from Vinton, Iowa is busy serving hard with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. Oak 6 has been working directly with the construction staff building and setting walls for a brand new two story house in the heart of Omaha.

Oak 6 is spending the next week finishing this house for a family of eleven refugees from Kenya. The homeowner and his wife fled Kenya after having their fifth child in a refugee camp. Their life-long dream is to own their own house where they can live comfortably with their children.

The team also got the pleasure of meeting the homeowner and the experience of working directly with him building his future home. On Saturdays, family partners or homeowners within the Habitat community volunteer along side Oak 6 and the rest of the construction staff.

On Tuesdays, the team gets to work inside the Habitat ReStore warehouse doing inventory for the Omaha chapter. Oak 6 works Tuesday through Saturday 7:30 to 4:00 p.m. and is always looking for other volunteer opportunities on Mondays.
