Why did you have to go
I dread what lies ahead
Bitter winds, ice and SNOW, SNOW, SNOW Why just yesterday the sun was smiling at you
As you showed off your colorful attire
Ruby red, golden yellow and burnt umber
You were something to admire Your lovely voice echoed far and wide
As you gaily waltzed across hill and dale
Over the meadowland and through the woods
Vibrant and whimsical like a Nightingale Oh how fickle can a season be
You tease me and you lead me on
Then out of the blue you pack your bags
And POOF suddenly you're gone There's nothing left to remind me of you
Except for some dried up windblown leaves
It makes my eyes weep with sadness
And oh how my broken heart grieves
