The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 11:00 October 28, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Winery for a tour, lunch and meeting
President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 11:50am. Seven members recited the Pledge of Allegiances and the Conservation Pledge. Roll call question is What did you like about the tour.
Secretary Joyce Bratten read the September meeting minutes. There was no corrections so minutes will stand approved as read.
Treasurer Sharen Stueck gave the treasurers report.
No more questions on Treasurers report so it will be filed for audit.
Club received a thank you from Judy Newman the Central Region Director.
Garden Therapy- Luanna, Michelle and Susie gave report on September 9,2015 of going to Lutheran Home to help residents make small arrangements for their rooms from the flowers that the Garden Club members Rosie Boisen, Sharen Stueck, Luanna Hawkins, Susie Hansen, Kelly Kaut, Anne Dake, Fran Stueck and Michelle Foshe-Gibson brought from their gardens. They ended up making 42 designs. Everyone had a great time.
Fran asked members to check Tilford flower bed, BlueStar marker flowerbed and Schrebring flowerbed to dig up weeds and deadhead plants some plants need to be cut back. Work at the 218 park will have to wait till spring now to get painted.
Fran passed a list around for members to sign for the month they want to be hostess for the club meetings.
The 2015 Central Region Convention meeting was a big success which was held in Cedar Rapids, Ia. at the Kirkwood Hotel.
The club had some bad news with the passing of our member Cam Wood. She will be missed. Fran made the suggestion that we would try and find a book on Asiatic and Oriental Lilies in Cams memory, for the library. Club all agreed.
November 17, 2015 meeting will be at Rosie Boisen home.
There was no more business.
