Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie headline “The Tourist” this week at the Palace. Showing, Friday, January 7 through Thursday, January 13 at 7 p.m. nightly, and in our regular Monday matinee at 2 p.m., this action-packed film runs 104 minutes.

Rated PG-13 for violence and language, “The Tourist” is a romantic comedy crime drama, which takes place in Paris and Venice. Jolie is a glamorous mystery woman being chased through Europe, and Depp a math teacher from Wisconsin who inadvertently becomes immersed in her problems.

Critics are panning this film, but regular audience members love it. Apparently Ebert, Gleiberman and the like expected much more from Depp and Jolie and director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, but the rest of us just want to be entertained.

GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY!

Many patrons appreciate the convenience of purchasing their tickets ahead online or at the theatre. You are now able to pre-buy for the whole month of January.

If you don’t mind waiting in line, you can still log on to www.vintonpalace.org to find out how many tickets have pre-sold for a show, and thus how soon you need to arrive at the theatre to ensure your favorite seats are available.

A QUICK COMMENT ON GENEROSITY

In the spirit of giving and pay-it-forward, we’ve had several patrons offer an extra amount (sometimes $10 or more!) at the box office and ask us to give out the next few tickets free! What a neat and contagious gesture! I’m only sorry those generous patrons don’t get to see the looks of happy surprise on the faces of those they treat.

Thanks also to the many individuals and businesses who remembered the Palace in their year-end giving. Our Chair Club fund is growing!
