Over the holidays we took a day off, COMPLETELY off, no computer, no internet, just a day to live like we lived in the "old" days.

It amazes me all the technology that we now make use of. Sure, we had a computer and for a time had it hooked up to the internet, the old dial up, take all day, on our ancient computer.

Then fast forward to today.

A couple new computers, digital cameras, yesterday I was on our land line and my cell phone rang, what do you do?

So after that call ended I called the person back on my cell phone and apologized for being on the "other" phone, which gave us both a laugh.

So anyway, back to our day off...

For a while we tossed around the idea of video on the website, and since neither of us have ever messed with that medium, we kind of forgot about it.

Then I had a day off, we went to see the lights, like we try to do at least once a year, so I grabbed the fancy smancy camera, shot some video, added some still shots, loaded it up...and Dean had this great idea to add music.

That became a new problem...figuring out how to get the music from my cd, to the computer, then to save it there, then to attach it to the video...I gave up, and contacted our featured artist who so kindly sent it to me in a MP3 file, which worked like a dream, so I could then upload it to the video and now you can see the amateur attempt at video on the website.

The show may not be great, but the music, it's wonderful! You recognize lights as the Kersten/Koopman display; the music is of course from local pianist Shannon Janssen, who graciously allowed us to use her songs here.

Enjoy!

B December 31, 2010, 12:07 am Thank you for sharing your beautiful experimental video with your readers. Well done and it brings back memories of taking our 2 young children out to see the Kersten lights with the long lines of cars filled with anxious little eyes. Great music by Shannon. Thank you all!
TV December 31, 2010, 3:57 pm What an awesome video! You have taken two of my favorite Christmas activities, seeing Kersten\'s lights and listening to Shannon\'s beautiful music, and combined them into a very special video. Thanks to all of you for sharing your time and talents. Terri
