The very first bit of 3D film I saw on our brand new digital projector last July was the movie trailer for “Megamind.” And I’ve been waiting impatiently ever since!

Megamind in 3D” opens Friday, December 3 through Thursday, December 9 at 7 p.m. every night, with added 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, December 4-6.

Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill lend their superior vocal talents to this Paramount/Dreamworks animated production. Rated PG and running 95 minutes, “Megamind” is a must-see for your entire family. The two different trailers I’ve seen are laugh-out-loud hilarious, and word on the street (Ebert and Entertainment Weekly) give this film rave reviews.

Most likely Roger Ebert would have given it one more star for a perfect rating if it hadn’t been in 3D. Ebert hates 3D, but does grudgingly admit that Dreamworks did a great job with the 3D effects in this film.

“Megamind” tells the story of superheroes, Megamind (Ferrell) and Metro Man (Pitt). From their infancy Metro Man has gotten the better of poor Megamind. Until the day Megamind defeats and triumphs over his lifelong adversary.

And then he’s bored. Megamind creates the Titan to cure his own loneliness, and life in Metro City immediately gets interesting.

Fast-paced, funny, funny, funny $3 3D! What more can you ask for?

We’ve added extra shows to accommodate crowds, including a Drop-Your-Kids-And-Shop-Downtown-Vinton matinee on Sunday afternoon, but please be aware – this movie is likely to sell out.

Purchase your tickets in advance at the theatre or online at www.vintonpalace.org, or line up for seat savers one hour before the show.

SCHEDULE ADDITION

Frank our booker added a stacked addition to our December calendar. The R-rated “Due Date” with Robert Downey Jr, Zach Galifianakis, and the lovely Michelle Monaghan, will play the Palace on Friday and Saturday, December 10 and 11 at 9 p.m., and Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m.
