Vinton, Iowa’s first ever flash mob took place during their Christmas Open House on Sunday, November 24th. The Open House is a tradition in Vinton and kicks off the Christmas shopping at stores throughout town.

This year Vinton Unlimited, the combined chamber of commerce & economic development group for the city of Vinton, coordinated the first flash mob.

People were asked to learn the routine in just two weeks through a video link shared through email. Local dance, exercise, and community groups took the initiative to learn the dance routine on their own and show up at 2pm on Sunday to take part in the flash mob. The video was posted on the Vinton Unlimited Facebook page which has reached over 21,000 people in just the first 72 hours. We had over 50 participants for the event and it was a great addition to the shopping that took place throughout town.

There is something for everyone on the streets of Vinton and we encourage everyone to stop by and see what makes, “The City of Lights” a great place to do your holiday shopping.
