Viking basketball finishes 3-19 (2-10 WaMaC West)

As Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity head basketball coach Joe Johnson entered his 16th season as Viking varsity head coach the Vikings head lost seven seniors from 2020-21. They lost most of the scoring from the 2020-21 season. The Vikings started the season 0-6 and finished the season 3-12.

The Vikings scored 863 points (39.22 points) for the season, 513 rebounds, and 147 assists, 174 steals, 26 blocks (1.2 blocks per game). They shot 295/955 (30.9%) from the field, 98/350 (28%) from three-point range, 175/326 (53.7%) from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Cam Dunbar led the Vikings, scoring 204 points (9.3 points per game). Junior Benett Rickels led the Vikings with 117 rebounds (5.4 rebounds per game), and 44 assists (2.0 assists per game).

Senior Max Vasquez led the Vikings with a field goal percentage of 44.7%. Cam Dunbar led the team with a free throw percentage of .686 and a three-point percentage of .390.
