After three meet cancellations, the VS/CPU Stormin' Vikings started the season on a hot streak with both a dual and invitational win. Thursday night, after a long trip to Decorah to face some stiffer competition, the Stormin' Vikes may no longer remain unbeaten, but have established themselves as a solid team with some exceptional swimmers. The team was third on the night behind a very strong Decorah team and just trailing Mason City, while finishing well ahead of the consolidated Waterloo squad.

The 200 Medley Relay of Bradyn Schlief, Carter Kirtz, Isaac Allsup and Ian Allsup continued their hot streak with their third first place in three meets narrowly beating a Decorah team that returned two members of its state qualifying relay team from last year. The Stormin' Vike time of 1:46.64 currently stands as the 12th best in Iowa right now, though there are still about 20 schools who have either not been able to compete or have not registered times yet.

The team also finished the night strong winning three straight events near the end of the meet. The 200 Free Relay team of Allsup, Kirtz, Schlief and Allsup took first with a great time of 1:36.78. This time, which is currently 14th in Iowa, was the best 200 Free Relay time for the team in 15 years and only 1.37 seconds off the school record. After a short break, Isaac Allsup was back in the water winning a tight race in the 100 Back. He was followed by Kirtz who handily won the 100 Breast.

The team will now focus on training for the next 2 weeks as it prepares for its next meet, a home dual with Decorah on January 5th.
