LaPorte City Golf Club was a wet place to be Thursday. That did not stop the Vikings from playing well and figuring out how to play in adverse conditions. The golfers made adjustments and came away with a victory over Union and Hudson. Vinton-Shellsburg shot 167 to distance themselves from Hudson 177 and Union 179. Not many players have experience playing in a constant rain, so we were able to have good conversations and suggestions throughout their round as the players made their adjustments both with thought process and swings.

Bryce Shaw and Tyler Stueck led the way for the Vikings both carding 41. Tyler Stueck won the medalist for the meet on a card back with Bryce Shaw finishing with the runner-up medalist. Daniel Janssen shot 42 followed by Dylan Rippel with 43. Austin Bohnsack made adjustments mid round and finished strong with a 44. Other Viking scores: Brandon Geiger 45, Austin Carolus 46, Cole Smith 49, Grant Noren 49, Kyle Jorgenson 50.

The Vikings will travel to Williamsburg Monday.
